Picnic tables & thanks to outgoing Committee Members

Thank you Karl & Benita for all the great work that you have done with the Progress Association. As incoming President & Secretary we genuinely appreciate your efforts for the district.

You have provided a great foundation for us to continue the progress for our community.

We are very impressed by the quality of the picnic tables that you were able to secure for the hall grounds, and the kitchen benches are going to be a great asset to being able to hire the hall out & keep the Capertee hall alive.

Thank you also Karl for the working bee that you arranged to help clean up Pearson's lookout. That is going to be an awesome tourist attraction when it is completed!

As a result of your efforts for the hall we have organised a working bee for tomorrow (27th May 2014)  with the assistance of Stan Stanford and the generous donation from Bob Miller & Greg Brown on behalf of Airly Mine (Centennial Coal) who have provided the formwork, mesh & concrete to set the slabs in place for the picnic tables.

On behalf of the Capertee Progress Association Committee,

Dorothy & Graeme

Persons lookout is looking a bit flash with a new black and a recently painted armco railing!

Capertee Valley a national treasure

Capertee Valley a national treasure

Lithgow Mercury Jan. 16,2014,4 a.m.

REVIEWING HIS GOVERNMENT'S WORK: Member for
Bathurst Paul Toole (left) with Capertee Valley Alliance Group
member Donna Upton and president of the Capertee Valley
Progress Association Karl Hansen.

MEMBER for Bathurst Paul Toole recently undertook a tour of the CaperteeValley as the guest of the Capertee Valley Alliance and the Capertee Valley Progress Association.

"The visit allowed me to see some of the signage works across the Valley that were undertaken following funding by the NSW Government to the Lithgow City Council," Mr Toole said.

"It is always pleasing to actually see the wonderful results at the completion of these projects. "The Capertee valley is one of the most spectacular international locations."The valley is a World Heritage listed wilderness.

The Capertee valley is the world's second largest canyon and is a kilometre longer than the Grand Canyon, but not quite as deep with the most incredible panoramic views across the valley this is a unique and beautiful landscape that we all should take the time to enjoy.

Capertee valley abounds in flora and wildlife and is home to more species of birds than anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere, making the valley a bird watchers paradise .
There is enormous tourism potential in the Capertee valley and these are the types of projects that make it much simpler for visitors to traverse the area and to understand what it has to offer.

''The community spirit of residents across the valley is outstanding with volunteers giving hours of their time in cleaning up sites and ensuring that this environmental treasure is maintained for the enjoyment of all visitors.
"Each of them are to be congratulated for their commitment and dedication."
The great Australian balladeer, Henry Lawson paused in the Capertee valley long enough to draw inspiration from this dramatic landscape in his poem "Song of the Old Bullock Driver:

Then slowly we crawled
by the trees that kept tally,
Of the miles that were passed
on the long journey down,
We saw the wild country
of the Capertee valley
As slowly we rounded
the base of the Crown.

With thanks to Capertee Valley Alliance

Capertee Community Christmas Party!

Although we didn't get the number of attendees that we were hoping for, fun was had by all!

We would especially like to thank Judy Eckersley, Kathy Shipp and Lesley Duncan for all of the hard work that they put in to organising this event!

The highlight of the night was a visit from Santa which the children all loved!

We'd also like to thank; Airly Coal, Williams Butchery Portland, Capertee Royal Hotel, Stan Stanford, Dylan Lilley of the Capertee RFS, and the community that attended.
